Opinion Tandoor E-Magazine (2023) Issue III now available
As OpinionTandoor.in completes 11 years, we are proud to bring out the third edition of our annual E-magazine. Like past three years, this issue contains all the pieces published on our website in the past 12 months including news reports, reviews, cartoons and analyses. This year the cover story features a three part series on the Agra Metro and its impact on the historical heritage of Agra. We also report on the lack of live tracking of city buses on the Chalo app in Agra and how it affects daily commuters. The issue features a report based on the analysis of functioning of Information Commissions in the country by rights and advocacy group Satark Nagrik Sangathan that paints a worrisome picture about them.
Besides there are reviews including those on literature, non-fiction, OTT series and podcast. Amita Chaturvedi reviews Mahashweta Devi’s renowned semi-biographical novel on Rani Lakshmibai- Jhansi Ki Rani where she tries to decipher the novelistic and historical elements in the text. A review on Andrew Otis’s book on Hicky’s Bengal Gazette talks about the specialty of the book as it narrates the untold story of India’s first ever newspaper brought out in 1780. Among the electronic media a review on Hansal Mehta’s OTT Series Scoop talks about the high-stakes field of crime journalism where one unsuspecting crime journalist gets caught in the crossfire between the police and the underworld, all of which is based on a true story. Another review on the podcast A Very British Cult talks about the psychological and sociological elements in the making of a cult in Britain called The Lighthouse.
Besides there are Tandoori Opinion cartoons as always which comment upon the latest political issues with satire. Our archive this issue features Amita Chaturvedi’s article on literature of eminent author and poet Jaishankar Prasad that explores the influence of poetry in his prose.
